I was asked by a student about the relevance of the quote on the side-bar. He said it was a barrier for him in attending the first class, however he decided to attend anyway. After reading it, he thought (to paraphrase) 'This guy thinks his martial art is superior to all others', and from this viewpoint thought perhaps it wasn't the right class for him.
To better explain the quotation, it was written by our Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin. In my view what he is expressing is that he believes the art is flawless, and very profound. This is also my view. However, that does not mean that the practitioners of the art are flawless. Perhaps, as I do believe, the Grandmaster is flawless; however the people practicing the art, and teaching, it are far from perfection.
I cleared this up with the student, and gave my view that perhaps there is a goal in all martial arts to reach perfection. That level of achievement may be the same across all systems, where the end goal will be the same. Just the method you get there is different.
